EBA: A STRUCTURED APPROACH FOR EVIDENCE BASED LEAN IMPLEMENTATION

Abstract

High competition in the durable household goods market result in a wide variety of product feature requirements and thus a high number of product variations. Consequently, the scheduling and the constitution of the production shops are getting complex to suit these requirements. This might result in a mismatch to the production plans, when not considered throughout all constraints and not sufficiently improved. Therefore, cycle times do increase, resulting in delayed deliveries, which are also decreasing the efficiency. In order to assure an agile, flexible and lean shop floor arrangement, an evidence based approach (EBA) is proposed herewith, deploying work in process improvement based on simulation with associated value stream mapping. Consequently, a case study in one of the leading white good manufacturers in Turkey is conducted to demonstrate EBA successfully.
