INVESTIGATION OF ELECTRONIC DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS USAGE WITH TECHNOLOGY ACCEPTANCE MODEL PERSPECTIVE

Abstract

Rapid advances in information and telecommunication technologies affect effective use of electronic tools in all steps of managerial activities and carrying out of enterprise information and documents issues. Business processes and enterprise documents, as a source of enterprise communication, have great importance on execution and continuance of managerial systems. Thus, to effective management of documents, enterprises need to use document management systems. In this context, Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS) can be thought as a best way of execution of business processes, and secure and legal implementation of the steps from production to achieving of documents. Moreover, legislation provisions make organizations to use EDMSs. EDMSs aim to terminate the triggered process by the documents. Putting in to process and terminating of hard-copy documents and are relatively more expensive than EDMS in terms of paper, energy, time and required space. EDMSs become popular because of the technological advances, cost effectiveness, high availability and manageability. However, organizations may have anxiety for use of EDMSs in spite of legal and governmental regulations. In any organizations, providing effective use of new technologies by users depends of their acceptation and willingness to use the systems. In this study, it is aimed to investigate attitude, intention and behaviors of users and employees towards EDMS based on the Technology Acceptance Model’s components with regards to age, educational level, gender, period of office and experience of the Internet. EDMSs have also strategic importance on public and private organizations with some properties such as having harmony character with professional bureaucracy and playing role in innovations. Thus, EDMSs should be accepted by those of managers. Problems occurs during the use of EDMS, acceptance level managers who must use EDMSs, measuring their attitudes, behaviors to the systems and conformity of EDMSs to organizational culture have also great importance to investigate.
