Abstract

Employees develop the feeling of ownership in situations where they understand that they are appreciated by managers and organizations. Empowered employees are emotionally committed to their organizations through psychological ownership and are satisfied with their jobs. Psychological ownership plays an important role in the emergence of this motivation rather than external rewards. As social identity theory lies behind the psychological ownership, employees see themselves within the joint share of the same objective, same group and environment rather than individualism. It was shown that there is a positive relation between psychological ownership, emotional commitment to organization and job satisfaction, while psychological ownership serves as a partial intermediary role between autonomy and job satisfaction. The aim of this research is to investigate the mediating role of emotional commitment between psychological ownership and job satisfaction according to the differentiating perception of employees and managers.
