Abstract

In the face of increased energy demand in recent years, many countries have been paying attention to searching for renewable energy sources and studies for providing energy productivity in order to decrease the external dependence in energy supply. One of the three most significant goals of European Union?s energy policy, foreseen to be generated till 2020 and called as 20-20-20, is to increase energy productivity and provide %20 decrease in primary energy consumption according to the foreseen values. With energy productivity policies, it is possible to reduce energy demand at macro and micro level. Within this context, in Turkey especially in energy intensive industry sector, there is a high capasity of energy productivity which cannot be underestimated. In this study, tax incentives provided for investments to be made in Turkey within the field of energy productivity will be analyzed and recommendations will be presented.
