Abstract

History of agriculture is as old as the history of mankind. The first agricultural activity that human being made in order to survive was gathering and hunting. With the introduction of simple tools, machinery and ultimately industrial production, the relationship between human and agriculture has evolved and has survived to the present day. Today, few forces that dominate the global economy and the financial sector follow the World scale in order to control the agricultural sector. The strategy they follow affects the health and future of all living beings, especially people. The results of this strategy have affected the Turkish agriculture sector as well as affecting World agriculture and it still continues to influence. Although agriculture has declined compared to the industry and service sector, the last 40 national income and the effect of employment on foreign trade in agriculture has increased 25 times worldwide, in the historical process. Turkey also has experienced similar developments. Agricultural and food products foreign trade which was 5 billion dollars in 2002 reached 25 billion dollars in 2017. In 1990, the added value derived from agriculture in turkey was 7.7 billion. In 2010, it reached the highest level which was 69.7 billion dollars. In the following years, it has been decreasing continuously and in 2016 it was realized as 53.4 billion dollars. In this study, it has been tried to present solution suggestions for the problems that obtained by examining the size of the Turkish agriculture sector in the macro economy, especially the period of 2002-2017. In the study, the beneficiaries of the Turkstat, World Bank, FAO and WTO were used.
