Effects of Syrian immigrants to Turkey's Economy

Abstract

People have migrated throughout history for various reasons. The fact that migration is a human-centered and multidimensional process makes it almost impossible to make a single definition that addresses all aspects of migration. In the most general way; migration can be defined as movement by people for various reasons such as economic, social, political, voluntary or compulsory and moreover displacement can be temporary or permanent. Analyzing the history it is possible to see reasons of migration have changed as well. In the beginning, the main motivations were hunger, famine and natural disasters but recently security problems and internal turmoils in the country became more prominent for migration. This study, aims to examine the impact of mass movement of Syrian refugees on Turkish economy.
