THE EFFECTS OF PARENT ATTITUDES, ROLES AND BEHAVIORS ON THE FIRST CHILD AND OTHER CHILDREN

Abstract

The attitudes, roles and behaviors shown towards the child in the family play an important role in the personality development of the child, together with the family structure. Behavior patterns that parents regularly and consistently show towards their children play a decisive role in terms of their spiritual harmony. In addition, supportive and positive attitudes contribute to the development of the child, while restrictive and negative attitudes lead to the emergence of various mental problems. In some families, these attitudes, roles and behaviors may differ between their first child and their next child. In this study, it was aimed to examine to what extent the economic status of families, education level, differences in age and occupation groups affect the attitudes, roles and behaviors in raising their first and later children. Within the scope of the research, interviews and interviews were conducted with a total of 400 families from Nev?ehir province and surrounding towns, provided that they are married and have children. According to the results obtained, it has been observed that there is a difference between the attitudes, roles and behaviors of parents while raising their first child and their attitudes, roles and behaviors while raising their next children. According to the information obtained from the research findings; It was determined that the parents did not receive any education in the name of raising children before they had a child and did not test themselves economically. It has been determined that while the behaviors, roles and attitudes of the parents while raising their first child are in a more classical and traditional style, the behaviors, roles and attitudes exhibited while raising their next children are in a more modern style. The attitudes, roles and behaviors of families with high income or belonging to the civil servant group; It has been determined that families with low income levels are more conscious, regular and planned compared to their attitudes, roles and behaviors. The role of social pressure in having children has also been revealed.
