TURKESTAN ASTRONOMERS HABEŞ EL-HASİB AND FERGÂNÎ, THEIR UNDERSTANDING OF ASTRONOMY AND THEIR INFLUENCES ON ASTRONOMY

Habeş el-Hasib and Ferghani from Turkestan were Islamic scholars who lived in the 9th century. Both scholars were influenced by the astronomer Ptolemy, who was influential in the field of astronomy at the time. They studied and developed Ptolemy's work on astronomy. They expressed their agreement and disagreement with the ideas written in this work. They made observations and wrote down these observations. They participated in the astronomy studies of the period and helped develop Islamic astronomy with these studies. The works they have written have also been read by other scholars. These written works have been translated and printed in different languages in Europe. The works of these scholars were read and benefited not only in their own periods but also in the periods after them. They revealed new terms and information in the fields of mathematics and astronomy. This article examines the lives, works and influences of these two scholars.
