Abstract

Bridging the gap between the East and the West, the land of Anatolia has hosted many great civilizations for centuries and has managed to protect it?s rich traditional folk dances throughout the years. Thesetraditional folk dances have an impact on the interpersonal relationships amoung each human being as well as the interaction between humans and nature. The exchange of information, feelings, ideas, and meaning take place in this formation. Performing these dances on stage led to a necessary intervention and changes were made to the original structure of these dances. Changing the natural genetic structure of these traditional dances and adding different forms of dances into the mix resulted in a work presented as Choreographic Elements. These elements were used for commerical purposes so the original figures in the dances were replaced with a more modern version. Many dance groups have continued this trend that was started by the State Dance Ensemble. Not only were these popular choreographic elements, that were based off the original traditional folk dance, a pleasure to watch and visually rich, but the elements also initiated the process of cultural assimilation while revealing modernized folk dance forms.
