Abstract

This study focused on the compulsory citizenship behaviors (CCB) that are widely accepted as a dark side of organizational citizenship behaviors. CCB could be defined as an illusion of organizational citizenship behaviors. In other words, it refers that organizational citizenship behaviors are not always have a voluntary nature, instead, it could be a product of some pressure sources. Although there are numerous studies that investigate the positive effects of organizational citizenship behaviors, the studies, which investigate the potential predictors of compulsory citizenship behaviors, are interestingly limited in the literature. In this context, this paper provides a theoretical model on compulsory citizenship behaviors and its proposed antecedents (i.e. organizational commitment, intention to leave). Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to determine the proposed effect of organizational commitment on compulsory citizenship behaviors and the moderator role of intention to leave on this relationship. Managerial and further research implications are provided.
