Among the basic and important institutions in a society are family, education, religion, politics and economy. These institutions, which are the basic structural elements of societies, have been created to meet the needs and expectations of people. They are based on a system of social rules established on the basis of certain values. These institutions are indispensable for every society, even though they have assumed different forms of structure in the course of history. The way for societies or social groups to maintain their stable existence, development and progress is through the healthy and sound functioning of institutions. Functional and effective functioning of institutions is important for both the institution itself and the overall social system of the society. In this article, information about institutions is given, their relations with different aspects of social life are revealed and the importance of institutions is discussed in a functional context. The aim of the article is to demonstrate how important the existence and importance of institutions are for social life and the overall functioning of society.
