Abstract

People could immortalized his own emotios, thoughts, requests by writing. Human recorded everything which he has lived, imagined or witnessed to date by writing since ıt’s ınvention. People expression what he wants to transfer by passing his filter of mind to most simple and most effective form. In Turkey the phonetic based sentences construction method is started by cursive handwriting performance. The writing speed is important for educationalist, teachers and investigators. The aim of the study was to observe the writing speed of first graders’. The work group of the research was formed of 364 first graders selected from three primary schools which were called Hasip Dinçsoy, Engin Can Güre and Cumhuriyet Primary School in Esenler district of İstanbul province. The researcher want students to write their names and surnames, their teachers’ names and surnames and schools’ names to notebooks in a minute. At the end of the time, each student’s writing speed was set bu counting the letters wrote before.
