CLOSE QUARTERS COMBAT AND ITS ROLE IN SECURITY MEASURES

Although Hand to Hand Combat (H2H) or Close Quarters Combat (CQC) is a defense discipline with its historical roots in military and institutional-official security, after requirements and necessities of contemporary urban environment it has spread to civil sectors as well in different versions. Modern origins of Hand to Hand Combat, which continues today, is coming from World War II and names such as William Fairbairn, Rex Applegate, Bill Underwood. Krav Maga which was developed as a self-defense system in Europe and Systema which is still used in Russia as a fighting system can be seen also among H2H combat models. When we have come to 21st Century Close Quarters Combat models of military, police and security schools from different countries and cultures have been blended with traditional martial arts and modern self-defense systems, provided a wide range of variety.
