Abstract

This research aims to reveal the multiple intelligence fields according to demographic variables of the 1st and 2nd year students studying at Marmara University Fine Arts Education’s Department of Music Education. 74 preservice music teachers participated in the research. The "Multiple Intelligence Inventory", adapted from English to Turkish by Oral (2001), was used to obtain data on multiple intelligence fields. In order to obtain information about the demographic variables of the students, the "Personal Information Form" developed by the researcher was used. SPSS package program was used to analyze the data obtained in the research. In order to determine whether the data are normally distributed, descriptive statistics techniques (mode, median, arithmetic mean, standard deviation) were used, and parametric tests were utilized in the analysis of the data that were determined to have a normal distribution in line with the results obtained. In the multiple intelligence fields of the students; Independent (unrelated) groups t-test was used to determine whether there was a significant difference according to gender, grade level and the type of high school they had graduated from, and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to determine whether there was a significant difference according to the education level of the mothers and the education level of the fathers. At the end of the tests, it was found that there wasn’t a significant difference of 0.05 level in the multiple intelligence fields of the students studying in the 1st and 2nd year of Marmara University Fine Arts Education’s Department of Music Education according to the variables of gender, class level, high school from which they had graduated from, mother's education level and father's education level. found. Suggestions regarding the findings are presented.
