At the time of the khalifah al-Muqtadi bi-Amr Allah, the Seljuks was living their strongest time mainly in Iraq as well as in Islam geography. The caliphate is also very important in terms of relationships between Abbasids and Seljuks. This period has become more important as heir apparency was rising up as an issue for caliphate as well as having only one Shahzadah. Arslan al-Basasiri has taken this issue as chance for killing of al-Muqtadi bi-Amr Allah and has threaten him with killing many times. However, he has never been successful in his aim to kill the khalifah. The khalifah had faced some problems to come into power during Sultan Malikshah. Allthough he has tried to increase his power with some marriages, this have brought up him several troubles too. During Sultan Malikshah visit to Baghdad, the khalifah's authority has been jerked and the Sultan had told him to leave Baghdad but Sultan Malikshah has not seen that he left the city as he passed away.
