SOME FINDINGS ON THE LODGE OF HIS NIBS SHEIKH TURESAN- VELI, LEGENDS ARISING AROUND THE LODGE AND COMMEMORATION FESTIVAL

Abstract

This work investigates Sheikh Turesan-? (Tur Hasan) Veli, being one of the disciples of Ahmad Yesevi and one of the Sufis, who had worked in the sake of Islamization of this land and making it a homeland. Additionally the situation of the lodge of His Nibs Sheikh Turesan-? Veli since its establishment is discoursed. Legends arising around the lodge will be quoted from written and oral sources. However, information conveyed will be limited with the permit of the source persons. The legends are classified as the stele erected in front of the lodge, the Mont Tekke `lodge` and the Plain of Yava? `slow` as the names of the region, the water of truncheon or spring, increase in the religiosity of the visitors of the lodge, divine punishment of the ones, who disrespect the lodge. Afterwards activities, traditions and rituals practiced during the rice festival which is marked as the commemoration on the last Sunday of June is explained. Also information on the Sheikh Turesan-? Veli Association is given. This information is taken from limited written sources, from oral sources, from the internet and from Mr. ?uayip Türker, who is the chair of the Sheikh Turesan-? Veli Association and comes from the line of His Nibs Sheikh Turesan-? Veli. This information is supported with visuals.
