Abstract

In this study, Chernobyl reactor disaster, which is one of the human-driven technological disasters, is focused. The research showed that the disaster which occurred in Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant and which will go on affecting for hundreds of years was due to the technical deficiencies and the wrong policy that the principals carried out. Keeping the rescue personnel, Soviet people and the world in ignorance about the danger they were in has been an inhuman behavior. The fact that the disaster management after the accident was inadequate has caused Asia, Africa, America and especially Europe and USSR to be affected. After years, ?the international sanctuary plan? has been created to protect from the effects of the disaster with the contributions of 26 countries, and the sarcophagus, which was built in the period of USSR and became deformed over years, according to this plan.
