Abstract

It is observed that developments encountered in technological areas within the last century have taken control of our social and cultural lives. Integration of musical instruments which are social and cultural actors to fabrication manufacturing process and the change in the raw materials used in manufacturing of the musical instruments have brought certain changes to their structural features. Difficulties in obtaining of raw materials, economic conditions, and mass production are forcing the manufacturers and musicians who play the sling drum which is the fundamental element of our traditional dance and music to search different pursuits. Objective of this study is to identify the structural features of the sling drum which accompanies our traditional dance and music within the Anatolian geography through exemplary regions. It is believed that transferring identified traditional factors to future generations and preservation of its status within the sound culture is significant for the field. In this study individuals who live in the exemplary regions and whose occupations are playing drums were taken as reference. Structural and formal features of the sling drum parts will be revealed with it is traditional by interviews.
