Abstract

In this article, a study was carried out on the notation of melodies played in weddings and societies in Abkhaz culture, the examination of Abkhaz instruments used in the region, and the creation of melodic and rhythmic analyzes of melodies. This study, which is about the folk melodies of the Caucasian peoples living in Turkey, especially the Abkhaz, who are still trying to preserve their musical culture by word of mouth, is about saving a little from its oblivion by the new Abkhaz generation and revealing and promoting this culture because it is not generally recognized has been carried out. In this article, six Abkhaz folk tunes performed in weddings and societies of Abkhazians living in Sakarya province were examined. The aim of this study is to take notes of the works examined and to analyze them in terms of melodic and rhythm. The melodies performed in weddings and societies of Abkhazians in Sakarya province constitute the sample of this study. The first step of the study is the short history of the Abkhaz living in Turkey. The second step is folk instruments of Abkhaz culture. The third step consists of the notes of the melodies examined in the study, their melodic and rhythmic examinations.
