Abstract

Mankind used the line before the letter. However, he thought that he would not be able to carry out an expression that would always continue to be validated with this method after a while as he draws what he wants to tell. For this reason, he needed writing in order to share the meanings and develop the known symbols. It has allocated necessary liaison channels to make information and culture transfer permanent. One of these channels is literature which has gained momentum since saying was converted into writing by drawing. Caricature has established a network of intimate and collaborate work in literature to be accepted by mass before it becomes a branch of graphic arts. At least this is true for Turkish caricature. Because the artists who use the visual language want to build their work on a solid foundation, they have gone to benefit from different disciplines in this direction. The caricature which prevails in the west and is benefited from its possibilities as much as possible, has continued its life as a part of literature in Turkey. He then began to create his own system. However, the caricature did not allow the breaking of the common bond between him and the literature. The publication we examined is one of the most powerful and intense examples of this connection. The "Akbaba” Magazine has been has been home to literature masters, caricaturists, drawing masters throughout the years. There are thousands caricatures published on the pages of the magazine on the subject of caricature and literature. However we have deemed it appropriate to include only portrait of the literature figures because of the space of our workplace and the volume of the essay. Again, when the volume of the essay is considered, it is not possible to present all the portraits of literature figures in “Akbaba” and for this reason we examined some of the portraits of the writers published in the magazine.
