Abstract

The creativity of Azerbaijani composers has always been rooted in the historical past of our people, several interesting and artistically valuable works of art reflecting the historical-heroic theme of different periods and related to the realities of the time have been created. It is known that the representatives of our national school of composition have always preferred topics that are in tune with the times and are related to real events. From this point of view, starting from the late 80s of the XX century, the occupation of our native Azerbaijan, the occupation of the lands of Karabakh, as in other fields of art, laid the foundation for the appeal to the theme of Karabakh in music. Works dedicated to the Karabakh war are an important part of the composer's work. The role of works on Karabakh in the formation of the spirit of patriotism is especially important. Works written on the theme of Karabakh are diverse in terms of genre: opera, oratorio, symphony, room, song, rap and other genres of interesting art. The first large-scale work on Karabakh was the oratorio “Karabakh Shikeste” ( "Karabakh Tragedy") composed by Vasif Adigozalov in 1989, in the words of the poet Teymur Elchin. This work was performed in both Azerbaijan and brotherly Turkey and was met with great competition. Vasif Adigozalov later addressed the military-patriotic theme, " Çəkin Qarabağdan qara əlləri” (Away black hands from Karabakh"), "Shusham, laylay" for soloist, choir and symphony orchestra and several other interesting works. And among the composer's works on Karabakh, the opera "Natavan" was a peak. The opera "Intizar" (Expectance) (formerly called "Karabakhname"), written by prominent composer Firangiz Alizade based on the libretto of Professor Nargiz Pashayeva, was an important step in conveying the Khojaly tragedy, the most terriable page on the Karabakh issue, to the world. Among the works written on Karabakh are Ramiz Mustafayev's oratorio "Salatın", "Truth is with you", "Azerbaijan" cantata, Tofig Bakikhanov's symphony "Karabakh harayı",(Karabakh voice) Agshin Alizade's "Ana torpaq", Sardar Farajov's symphonic piece “Matəm harayı” ("Mourning voice") and others. it is possible to create a long list. One of the things that unites these different styles is the expression of the Karabakh theme. It should be noted that, along with classical works, the appeal to the theme of Karabakh in various areas of modern music is striking. From this point of view, the song "Either Karabakh or Death" by the group "Deyirman" caused a great revolution in the world of national rap and became a motto in the expression of a kind of patriotic spirit. In general, the theme of Karabakh in the works of Azerbaijani composers is not only a topical issue of the time, but also an expression of national consciousness and the modern historical stage.
